Hobbies

Art

As Homeopathy is a healing art, I am also interested in fine arts. Among my favourite leisure activities are visits to the museum or theatre, and as far as my spare time allows, I try to be creative myself, using photography, drawing, painting, etching, wood cut and mixed techniques. Here are some of my works in oil pastel, oil and gouache.

Garden and animals

To design a garden (and to find the time to maintain it…) can be an art, too… Working in my garden is very special for me – herbs, flowers, trees and bushes are a magical attraction. I try to work together with nature, rather than against it. That’s why you will not find tidy flowerbeds with exotic plants, artificial fertilizer or herbicides in my garden. Instead of this you can find a great many local and Mediterranean herbs and plants, as well as weeds, a natural meadow, a pond and many animals – hedgehogs, birds, toads, batrachians, dragonflies, bees, ants and centipedes…

Regrettably, my cats Ronja and Grischa both entertain themselves greatly with everything that moves. But as soon as they are not preying, they are really cuddly and affectionate.

My old horse Gino had to be put down in December 2010. He was almost 30 years old - quite exceptional for a warmblood. Certainly, this was due to the good work of the people at Ferme du Cavallon in France, where he spent his old age pension in a herd of about 40 horses. He was out at feed all day and night, and liked to act as surrogate uncle for the yearlings for a while before he concentrated on life's essentials: eating with pleasure, enough sleep, and - above all - no stress! Nevertheless, he shooed away his colleagues, when I was visiting him, and enjoyed his carrots all by himself… Bye bye, Gino!

Sports

Last but not least, sport is an important part of my life. Hiking in the Black Forest (on weekends) or the Alps (in summer), Nordic skiing and snow shoe walking (in winter), jogging (in almost every weather) and yoga (in the evening) are my favourites, and I try to take my time for these activities on a regular basis. Unfortunately, my day only has 24 hours…
